I loved my dad so very much and feel ashamed of myself for being estranged from him for so long. We had a difficult relationship, but I had always admired him and wanted to know him better. I hope and pray he knew how much I loved him... My happiest memories are from childhood sports with dad and Dom. We all fought to win as much as possible, but it was a special time, a bond we formed. Dad introduced me to great art, books and films. His knowledge of Van Gogh, William Morris, Carl Jung et al was prodigious. I remember listening in awe. I foolishly and wrongly blamed him for a lot of things. Now I am so much older and, through my own experiences, I realise he did the best he could. I wish I had opened my eyes to that fact sooner. He was my first hero. I love you, dad. Dan xxxxx
